The wonder brick
The initiative to create modular blocks out of pill bottles, x-rays, and syringes
Sounds crazy right?
Here you can see the proyect
I'll briefly outline my complete trip for you in this place.
My name is
And I am a Colombian industrial designer.
I have a strong love for all environmental protection-related problems, and I constantly look for methods to include sustainability into my initiatives.
I want to use the wonder block to breathe new life into the waste materials that have saved and will continue to save lives and to develop the planet in a unique way.

The goal is to be able to make modular construction bricks from of various plastics, and some waste products from the healthcare industry.
Apart from that outrageous amount of waste, a tiny hospital would produce
50 kilograms of garbage per day at a rate of 0.5 kg per bed. Whereas a single drink or pharmaceutical bottle takes 100–1000 years to deteriorate
It's scary to think about the numbers
But even if plastic saves lives, it has an impact on the environment because we may use items like prostheses and masks because of it, which is 100% useful for our health.
People exist and have the same basic requirements, such as eating, sleeping, and having fun, wherever from the Colombian city of Choco ,to Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States.
so...
together
I want to use the wonder block to breathe new life into the waste materials that have saved and will continue to save lives and to develop the planet in a unique way.
We aim to change the perspective such that recycling initiatives are only used in South American and African nations.
Because despite language differences and geography, we are all human.
To complete the project, various features and forms evolved based on some of the traits of the old house and after consulting our ancestors and their building practices.
There are various organizations from different regions of the world that attempt to assist solve this problem, thus recycled plastic bricks are not the only ones available on the market. We used the most references as a starting point and created The Wonder Brick using those references.
The triangle and its characteristics were mostly explored in order to accomplish the shape; sketches and three-dimensional models were created, and the winning proposal was this one, which underwent some modifications to serve various purposes.
Because this is typically one of the projects weaknesses that has the biggest impact because most projects concentrate on the form and justification but not on the process How many emissions of CO2?
It was crucial to understand how something came to be rather than just focus on the finished product.
The modularity of the brick and its capacity to slot one into another in many ways without requiring any adhesive was a crucial feature that it should have.
Because of this!!! making the process as sustainable as possible plays a key role in here
When this was analyzed, it became abundantly evident that the production of a typical clay and sand brick is not sustainable and should not be done in this manner since there is a significant negative impact on the environment and human health from the extraction of the material to its disposal. planet
It is carefully observed during the production of The Wonder Brick that renewable energy sources, mindful water conservation, and a circular and non-linear mentality are used for every step, from the collecting of the raw material (plastic) to the consumption of the finished product.
Design
This project creates a community and does not operate alone; instead, it is intended to collaborate with numerous organizations and diverse professionals in fields like
To advance the future and enable us to educate both adults and children so that we can jointly create the future
and research in the field of
Agriculture and environmental engineering
You may discover details on the form's background and justification here, along with calculations of the wonder brick's emissions. However, as everything is in Spanish, you might need to utilize a translation.

The most crucial thing to remember
is that if we continue to create plastic with no limit, it will be useless to lay it on a brick because multinationals will find a shield where they can defend themselves. It would seem vital to prove that a project like this would not be conceivable without plastic.Despite its horrific environmental effects, defending the usage of single-use plastic that ends up as a building brick results in a linear thought that has a beginning, middle, and an end but no restart. Furthermore, circularity needs to be fashionable because it is obvious that some polymers are required to save lives.
But think for a moment. Could it be that a soda's plastic wrapping is necessary for survival?
That is why we open a campaign where there are not more ideas, it is less plastic
